Let me share a tale with you…
In the beginnings of Time, the creator Wakanishtoa took the great diamond called Kinoqa and with one mighty blow shattered it into a million pieces of equal size. Wakanishtoa placed one of these diamonds inside each human Wakanishtoa had made. Then Wakanishtoa woke some of these humans and placed them onto the World to live.
Now, the shards of Kinoqa are unique. They grow or shrink according to the thoughts and actions of the person within whom they live. There are many ways to think and act but some are wiser than others.
Things that make it grow include compassion, helping others, especially helping others to heal, kindness, generosity, empathy, passion, courage when faced with fear, peacemaking, helping others to grow and achieve, seeking wisdom.
Things that make it shrink include greed, warmongering, harming others deliberately, selfishness, preventing others to grow achieve or find wisdom, putting others down, ignoring wisdom, exploitation of others and of the land and choosing the easy path when you know that the honest one is tougher.
After death, Wakanishtoa removes the diamond and gives it to your spirit. Then Wakanishtoa takes your spirit to the Hall of the Unborn. There lie all of the people who have yet to be born and says to your spirit:
“Choose a body within which to place your diamond. When that person is born they will start to live and so will the diamond. It will grow or shrink according to their actions and thoughts. When all have lived and died, I will take all the diamonds and remake Kinoqa. If Kinoqa is larger than before I broke it, I will create a wonderful new land for all spirits to enjoy. If it is smaller, I will be sad and my tears will wash away and dissolve all of the human spirits I created.”
Every great story has a lesson and here is the one for us:
Your actions and your thoughts have an effect. Not only on those around you, but also all those yet to come. So when you act, make it a positive action, because what you do will affect the generations to come. No one of us is insignificant and our future happiness lie within the hands of us all. Every unkind and ungenerous thought and act will revisit us, and every courageous and compassionate behaviour will improve our lot. By working together positively now, we can ensure a happy future.
Within all of us there is a wonderful, unique diamond. No amount of pressure or hardship in your life can crush it. Its beauty and brightness can dazzle us all; and it is precious beyond measure. When life is hard, remember that diamond and be proud of what you do and believe. When life is good, do all you can to help others grow their diamonds.
The Next Step
Every time you meet someone, try to look deep within them. How large is the diamond in them? Judge them by their words and their actions. Don’t forget to look within yourself too, though. What have you done today to ensure that the diamond within you grows? What will you do tomorrow? Do you have any ground to make up?
