How to Wake Up Organised and Full of Energy Every Day
If you want to squeeze the most out of every day you need to make sure that when you get up you’re already firing on all cylinders. Here are 3 tips for waking up organised and full of energy every morning.
Find Your Purpose and Work at it Every Day
Everybody that succeeds has something that drives them. Something more than just a payslip. You were meant for much more than just getting through the day and you have a responsibility to yourself to find out what yours is. Begin with regular introspection and clear, logical analysis. Write down all those things in your life that made you feel great when you did them. That could include taking your kids out for a great day of fun, or closing a big deal, or having made time to be beside your mother’s bed when she was ill last year. Whatever these things are, make a list. Then go through your list and find the common elements. You may have to do this a few times before it becomes clear, but when you do you’ll have a clearer idea what your life’s purpose is. After that, do something towards it every day. Your purpose may be helping others, or making a fortune, or being a great dad/mother. For me, it turned out to be a need to inspire people the world over to realise their limitless potential and their power to achieve their success.
Clear Your Desk Every Night
Make sure you de-clutter your desk and in-box at the end of the working day. Make a plan for the next day’s activities. Identify your most important tasks for the day and list them so you can get started straight away. You won’t believe how much this helps you every day. It means you’re already on the move while other people are just shuffling paper. I know someone that’s been doing this for years and swears that it’s the reason why she is always one step ahead of her competitors.
Get Enough Sleep
This is the advice your mother gave, but you never listened to. One of the most common reasons for under-performance and lack of motivation at work is the fact that most people are struggling along with less than enough sleep. It’s not macho to work all day and night – all you get is tired. If you want to be successful, you need to be able to think fast and with clarity. A fuzzy head will hold you back from reaching your success. Establish a routine. Go to bed and get up at regular times. I read somewhere once that most Americans sleep an average of 7 hours each night but that most successful Americans sleep an average of 8 hours per night. I don’t know how accurate that is but I can tell you from personal experience that it can make an enormous difference. The year I took charge of my sleep patterns, my income doubled. The Next Step
Here’s a bonus one: stop work at least 2-3 hours before bedtime. Do something creative and spend some time chilling out. You’ll be amazed at how much it helps. I’m writing this article now in my wind-down time. Start today, decide what your routine is going to be and begin doing it. That’s all the planning and preparation you need.
